First of all if you dont like to have fun this is not the vacation destination for you! At Sandals MoBay you can be as busy or relaxed as you want. The "playmakers", entertainment staff, are the most enerjetic and fun staffers we have ever encountered anywehere we have been!
Entertainment- The resort entertainment as I mentioned is spearheaded by the playmakers. Every night starting around 8:30 the shows begin. They range from Local bands to groups of steel drummers or the playmakers putting on a singing and dancing show. They have shows that involve guests also like the Mr.Irie contest, which is a very fun kind of personality contest as well as a newlywed show type game.
Dining- The resturaunts that we enjoyed the most were the Italian resturaunt and the Oleander room(no reservation required), ate there twice. In the oleander the strip steak is excelent and the food presentation is really impressive! The last night I asked for a lobster tail as a side to my steak, it was not on the menu but our waiter said he would see what he could do. He brought out 3 lobster tails! Lunch food buffets got a little old, not a great lunch variety, but breakfast was always good. Made to order omlets, bacon, eggs, pancakes french toast and assorted fruits to name a few items. There was also many types of juices and fruits to make smoothies from.
Beach and activities- The beach was very nice fine powder sand. They kept it raked and were constantly gathering seaweed as it washed up with the current. There were always plenty of chairs for everyone on the beach. Shaded areas were also plentiful on the beach if that was what you wanted. We snorkeled once and the waves while on the boat were causing several to feel sick while on the boat. Luckily the ride to the snorkeling point was only about 3 or 4 minutes from the dock.
Rooms- We opted for the delux room, which was the cheapest. It was just a run of the mill hotel room, but it was located right next to the main pool and resturaunts. The more expensive rooms were kind of away from everything. Met a few couples who opted for the rooms that had a butler and they had a cell phone given to them at check in that they could call them at any time for anything(reservations, drinks, ect.) That would have been nice to have knowing that now.
We did two off the resort excursions, the shopping tour and Dunns river falls. The shopping tour allowed us to see downtown and get a few craft market souvineers but the duty free shops had some very expensive designer jewelry that was very nice. Dunns River Falls was very beautiful and worth the 90 minute drive from mobay to experience it. 960 foot ascent up the rocky water fall was really cool.
The airplanes get a really bad wrap in the reviews but they really are only as bad as you let them be. The airport runway is literally 300 yards from the front gates of the resort, but the planes don't fly at all hours. Usually from about 8am to 10pm or so. We really enjoyed ourselves on our first sandals experience and will deffinately be back! "Yeah Mon"
